One of the most important things to make sure this whole project is completed successfully is ensuring that I know exactly what equipment I need and that I am able to access for the dates needed.
Its important to know what equipment I need but there are other factors that are important to know as well including:
How I can access the different items
Why I need them (for risk assessment purposes)
Exact dates different items will be needed
Wether they will coast anything
I decided to create a detailed equipment list responding to all the above questions to make me as prepared as possible!
Production Fees
While doing this list it also reminded me that knowing the costs of production is important to making sure it is organised and successful therefore I created a predicted budget to give me a rough idea of fees throughout the process.
As this is a university project and the majority of equipment is available for me to borrow, there is little fees with equipment and filming at my chosen location is free therefore the main costs i have considered are travel and catering for myself throughout the time period.
Towards the end of my project when I have accurate figures of how much I actually spent, I will recreate this table with the exact amounts and dates of payments. This is not a requirement within my project brief, however it is something that a lot of documentary producers have to do therefore I wanted to do it as well to make this project as realistic as possible.
Risk Assessment
Before I am allowed to begin filming or borrow University equipment I have to do a risk assessment to reassure the University, myself and the people involved in the filming that I am prepared for any risks or issues that may occur while at the filming location and using the equipment.
It is a key safety feature that needs to be done not only for university projects but in any form of production work within the media industry.
